Rodalies passengers travelling in and around Barcelona face three days of disruption from Tuesday 10th November 2026, after minimum service levels were set for train drivers’ strikes and a separate general strike.
Renfe, the state rail operator, said on Saturday 7th November that rail traffic would be affected on 10th, 11th and 12th November. The train drivers’ union Semaf has called strikes for Tuesday and Thursday; Wednesday’s disruption is linked to the general strike.
For commuters, the sharpest reduction will be on Wednesday 11th November: no Rodalies trains are scheduled outside two peak-hour periods. Rodalies is Catalonia’s commuter and regional rail network.
The Department of Business and Labour of the Generalitat, Catalonia’s regional government, has set the minimum service levels. These determine the proportion of the usual train service that must be maintained during the strikes.
Tuesday 10th November 2026: reduced service all day
On the first day of the Semaf strike, the minimum service will be 66% during the morning and evening peak periods, and 33% for the rest of the day:
- 06:00 to 09:30: 66% of the usual service.
- 17:00 to 20:30: 66% of the usual service.
- All other times: 33% of the usual service.
That means roughly two-thirds of the usual service during the specified peak periods and one-third at other times.
Wednesday 11th November 2026: trains only at peak times
During the general strike on Wednesday, the minimum service will be 25% of the usual Rodalies service in two periods:
- 06:30 to 09:30: 25% of the usual service.
- 16:30 to 21:00: 25% of the usual service.
There will be no Rodalies service for the rest of Wednesday. Passengers who normally travel between the two periods or after 21:00 will therefore need to make other arrangements.
Thursday 12th November 2026: three stoppage periods
Semaf’s second strike day will consist of three stoppage periods. The guaranteed proportions of the usual service will be:
- 06:20 to 09:20: 66%.
- 14:20 to 17:20: 33%.
- 21:20 to 23:20: 33%.
The morning minimum is roughly two-thirds of the usual trains; during the afternoon and late-evening stoppages, it falls to roughly one-third.
Travel guide Catalunya Info says the drivers’ strike also affects regional, high-speed and long-distance trains, but does not include Barcelona’s metro and buses, FGC trains or trams. FGC is a regional rail operator. That assessment concerns the drivers’ strike, rather than the separate general strike on Wednesday.
Renfe advises passengers to plan journeys in advance and check the state of the network through its usual information channels before setting off.
