Barnasud shopping centre in Gavà reopened at about 15:15 on Saturday 7th November 2026 after a fire involving a car on level -1 of its underground car park prompted the precautionary evacuation of customers and staff. No injuries were reported.

The evacuation lasted about three hours, according to reports on the incident. The reopening means shoppers and employees were able to return after firefighters inspected and ventilated the affected areas.

The emergency call was received at about 12:15, and eight crews from the Department of Interior and Public Safety's Catalan Fire and Rescue Service attended Barnasud. Smoke from the fire spread through the shopping centre, leading emergency services to clear the building as a safety measure.

Car removed from underground level

Firefighters removed the affected car from the level -1 car park and took it to a nearby external plot, where they continued extinguishing the fire in a more controlled area.

Once the flames had been put out, fire crews returned to Barnasud to inspect the premises. They also carried out ventilation work to remove smoke from the car park and other affected areas before access was authorised again.

Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's regional police force, and Gavà Municipal Police assisted with the evacuation and security operation. The incident did not result in any reported injuries.
