Two teenagers suffered serious injuries in La Granada, Alt Penedès, on Tuesday afternoon after a warehouse roof collapsed beneath them. The incident saw both minors fall approximately eight metres.
Emergency services received the alert around 19:00. Four ambulances from the Sistema de Emergencias Médicas (SEM) responded swiftly to the scene on Poeta Josep Maria Font street.
One injured teenager was airlifted by helicopter to Hospital Sant Pau in Barcelona for urgent medical attention. The second victim travelled by road to Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Esplugues de Llobregat, according to the Agència Catalana de Notícies (ACN).
Emergency Response Details
Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's police force, and Bombers de la Generalitat, the regional fire service, also attended the incident. However, the fire service did not need to act as the teenagers were not trapped under debris. The prompt response from multiple agencies ensured rapid care for the injured.
La Granada is a municipality in the Alt Penedès region, located approximately 50 kilometres west of Barcelona city. This rural area is known for its vineyards and agricultural activity. The specific type of warehouse involved in the collapse has not been disclosed by authorities.

Hospital Sant Pau is a major teaching hospital in Barcelona, recognised for its advanced emergency and trauma care.
