The PSC says Salvador Illa's Catalan government has a stable parliamentary relationship with ERC and Comuns, the two parties that backed his investiture, after the three groups voted the same way on 107 of 127 standalone government or PSC-Units initiatives.
For residents, the figures indicate that most government decrees and legislative proposals reaching the Parlament, Catalonia's legislature, have secured support from the parties that enabled Illa to take office. The PSC's calculation puts their voting alignment at 84.3%.
"When people talk about a culture of agreement, we put it into practice," PSC sources said.
PSC cites 46 approved initiatives
According to figures released by the PSC and reported by Europa Press Barcelona, the Govern, Catalonia's executive government, has tabled 68 decree laws or legislative proposals. Of the 47 that have been put to a vote, 46 were approved; the remaining proposals are still going through parliament.
- ERC and Comuns matched the PSC's vote on 107 of 127 standalone initiatives.
- Where the PSC submitted a proposal jointly with other parliamentary groups, its alignment with ERC and Comuns was 87.2%.
- The PSC has taken part in 19 of the 22 legislative proposals presented to the Parlament.
The party said initiatives had also passed with support from other groups when both ERC and Comuns did not back them.
Tourist-tax delay was the government's only defeat
The sole defeated measure was a decree intended to delay the start of an increase in the tourist tax. Junts backed the rise agreed by the Govern and Comuns, but ERC did not support it; a later decree delaying its implementation was approved.
The government also withdrew its proposed Budget law. Alícia Romero, the councillor for Economy and Finance, described it as the legislature's most important law.
