Work Begins Monday in Rosales, Dalmases and Escoles Pies
Underground cabling work to remove overhead power lines and poles will begin on Monday 2nd November in three streets in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona. The project, confirmed by the district council, will affect Carrer de Rosales between Carrer de Calatrava and Carrer de Ganduxer, Carrer de les Escoles Pies between Passeig de la Bonanova and Carrer de Pau Alcover, and the full length of Carrer de Dalmases. The work is scheduled to continue until February 2027. Once the underground conduits are installed, the local energy supplier will remove the existing overhead cables and poles, clearing visual clutter and improving safety.
Part of City-Wide Pla Endreça and PMI
This intervention forms part of the Pla de Manteniment Integral (PMI), a comprehensive urban renewal strategy under the broader Pla Endreça programme. According to the Ajuntament de Barcelona, the PMI includes over 430 planned improvements in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi between 2025 and 2027, with a focus on pedestrian safety, accessibility, and public space quality. The removal of overhead lines supports the city’s wider goal of universal accessibility, particularly in hilly areas where unobstructed footpaths and clear sightlines are essential for older residents, people with reduced mobility, and families with pushchairs. The initiative aligns with other PMI projects in the district, including sidewalk expansions and traffic calming near schools.
This project reflects our commitment to safer, more accessible streets for all residents, especially in neighbourhoods with significant elevation changes.
What Residents Should Know
Local residents and businesses should expect temporary disruptions during the works, including lane closures and possible noise during daytime hours. The Ajuntament de Barcelona advises checking the district’s official website for updates and detailed traffic diversions. Further information on the PMI and other district improvements is available via the Pla de Manteniment Integral page on the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi website.
