Free concert celebrates two decades of Catalan music
Els Amics de les Arts concluded their 20th anniversary tour with a free performance at Park Güell on Sunday 11 October 2026, drawing an audience of 1,800 residents and visitors to the Plaça de la Natura. The event marked the final stop of a tour that began with commemorative concerts in Barcelona, Valencia, Mallorca and Andorra, extended due to public demand. The concert, titled 'La nit sembla que serà nostra' (The night seems to be ours), featured a retrospective of the band’s two-decade career and included special guest appearances. Jazz vocalist Andrea Motis joined the group for 'L’home que treballa fent de gos' (The man who works as a dog), while Adrià Salas from La Pegatina performed on 'Ja no ens passa' (It doesn’t happen to us anymore). Although both tracks appear on the album '20 anys d’Amics', this was the first time they were performed live with these collaborations.
New arrangement pays tribute to Gaudí
A highlight of the evening was a newly arranged version of 'L’Arquitecte' (The Architect), inspired by Antoni Gaudí and tailored to the concert’s setting within one of his most iconic works. The performance reinforced the connection between the band’s music and Catalan cultural heritage.
Park Güell strengthens community cultural access
The concert is part of Park Güell’s ongoing strategy to deepen ties with surrounding neighbourhoods through free cultural programming. Previous events have included performances by the Escolania de Montserrat, the Choir and Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu presenting 'Carmina Burana', and 'Decostumari', a dance piece during La Mercè festivities. According to the Ajuntament de Barcelona, these initiatives aim to transform the heritage site into a community meeting point and improve local access to the arts. The positive turnout and resident participation support the site’s broader cultural ambitions beyond architectural preservation.
The concert was a celebration of music, memory and place, a moment where the city’s heritage and its living culture came together.
