Barcelona music promoter Guim Cifré, 34, died after a collision between his motorcycle and a taxi at the junction of Travessera de les Corts and Entença on Wednesday night. His death has postponed indefinitely the reopening of JazzSí, an El Raval concert venue he was preparing to relaunch with two partners this Friday, 18 September.
Cifré was a well-known figure in Barcelona's live jazz scene. He was the artistic programmer at Milano Jazz Club on Ronda Universitat and was due to begin work this week at the renovated JazzSí, according to Diari ARA.
Barcelona City Council said he was taken to hospital after the crash but died shortly afterwards. The collision was Barcelona's 13th fatal road traffic incident of 2026, according to the council.
JazzSí reopening has no new date
Clara Conill and Liba Villavechia, Cifré's partners in the JazzSí project, have postponed the venue's launch indefinitely. The decision leaves the Raval venue without a reopening date, affecting a planned addition to the city's live-music programme.
“For Guim, JazzSí was much more than a project: it was a dream, a life's gamble to which he had dedicated all his energy, his vision, and an enormous passion for music and culture.”
The statement was issued through Taller de Músics, the Barcelona music school and cultural organisation connected with the venue.
Units from the Guàrdia Urbana's Central Traffic Accident Investigation Unit, the city police team that investigates serious collisions, and the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM), Catalonia's medical emergency service, attended the scene.
