Temporary Road Closure in Gràcia District

A section of Carrer de Tirso in Barcelona’s Gràcia district will be closed to vehicle traffic on Saturday 7th November from 9 AM to 7 PM. The closure is necessary to carry out utility crossing works at the intersection with Carrer del Portell, Carrer de Ceuta and Carrer del Santuari. The works are part of ongoing improvements to underground infrastructure in the area, according to the District of Gràcia’s official notice published on ajuntament.barcelona.cat.

Alternative Routes and Access

During the closure, alternative routes will be clearly signposted to maintain mobility. Access to Carrer del Portell will only be possible from Carrer del Santuari. Residents and regular users are advised to plan their journeys in advance and follow temporary signage. These temporary disruptions aim to upgrade essential utility connections beneath the road, contributing to long-term improvements in public space and accessibility.

  • Date: Saturday 7th November 2026
  • Time: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Location: Carrer de Tirso (between Carrer del Portell and Carrer de Ceuta)
  • Reason: Utility crossing works

Broader Urban Improvements

This intervention aligns with the city’s Pla Endreça (Integral Maintenance Plan), which includes wider upgrades to the Coll neighbourhood access area between Carrer de Ceuta and Carrer dels Santuaris. According to the Barcelona City Council’s Info Barcelona portal, these improvements aim to widen pavements, enhance pedestrian accessibility, and improve bus transit through a congested zone near three schools. The full project, costing €3.6 million and funded by the Gràcia District budget and Park Güell revenue, began in early 2026 and is expected to last 17 months.
