Barcelona has unveiled its first public ultra-fast electric vehicle charging hub, capable of serving 12 vehicles at once and restoring up to 400km of range in around 15 minutes for compatible models, as Diaricatalunya reported. The hub, developed by Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM) under the Endolla Barcelona network, is set to launch by the end of 2026.

The stop&go-style facility allows drivers to plan charging stops efficiently using the SMOU mobility app, which shows real-time availability. Four of the hub’s chargers are future-ready, capable of delivering up to 800kW, potentially cutting charge times to under 10 minutes as next-generation EVs roll out. The system integrates photovoltaic generation and battery storage to support grid stability and sustainability.

Scaling Up Electric Infrastructure

Endolla Barcelona currently operates 1,091 public charging points across the city, including in BSM car parks, and serves over 70,000 users. Monthly charging sessions have risen by 38% since the start of 2026. The new hub marks a significant step in the city’s push to expand fast-charging access and support growing EV adoption.

From Tuesday 3rd November to Thursday 5th November, BSM will showcase the hub’s features at the Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress, where visitors can preview the user experience before its city rollout.
