The 13th edition of Serielizados – Barcelona’s International TV Series Festival – has set a new attendance record, drawing more than 18,000 people between 19th and 28th October 2026, according to the festival’s official figures. This represents a 12% increase from the previous year, consolidating its status as Spain’s leading event dedicated to television fiction.

Held at venues including the CCCB, CASA SEAT, and Phenomena, the festival featured over 60 events and more than 30 national and international premieres. Among the most anticipated screenings were In vitro (3Cat and HBO Max), Segunda temporada (Filmin), Celeste 2 (Movistar Plus), and Matar a un oso (Movistar Plus). The closing event, Episòdic: El principi d’Arquimedes – a student-produced anthology series co-produced by betevé and the Ajuntament de Barcelona – sold out completely.

Major awards announced

  • Matar a un oso (Movistar Plus), created by brothers Jorge and Alberto Sánchez-Cabezudo, was named Best National Series. The drama, based on the real-life 2020 discovery of the body of a bear named Cachou during lockdown in the Vall d’Aran, was praised by the jury for its narrative depth.
  • Etty, directed by Hagai Levi, won Best International Series. The series, part of the Official International Section, was lauded for its global storytelling appeal.
  • Carmen Machi received the award for Best Performance for her role in the second season of Celeste.
  • Camarades (Benjamin Charbit and Dominique Baumard) won Best Screenplay in the international category, while Diane Morgan was honoured for Best Performance in Ann Droid.

Audience and jury recognition

The Audience Popitas Award went to Segunda temporada (Filmin), directed by Miguel Ángel Blanca and starring Berta Prieto, who also co-wrote the series with Víctor Diago. The show, which follows a struggling ghostwriter tasked with penning the biography of a fading trap music legend recently released from prison, also won Best Screenplay in the National Official Section.

The international jury was composed of filmmaker Rodrigo Sorogoyen, screenwriter Victoria Martín, and actress Anna Ycobalzeta. The national jury included Claire-Marine Pietriga, Rowan Woods, and Roosa Toivonen.

Strong international programming draw

The festival’s focus on international content saw increased audience numbers for screenings of Ann Droid (UK), Camarades (France), Negocios turbios, A Better Place (Germany), Naked, and Etty (Netherlands). This reflects a growing local appetite for non-commercial, globally diverse series formats.

The Barcelona International TV Series Festival announced today the winning titles of its 13th edition.

According to organisers, the 2026 edition reinforced Barcelona’s position as a hub for global television storytelling, with high-profile guests including Steven Moffat, Sue Vertue, and Ferran Adrià participating in masterclasses and talks.
