Emergency Alert Lifted After Heavy Rains

Protecció Civil de la Generalitat has deactivated the alert phase of the INUNCAT flood emergency plan as of Sunday morning, 4 October 2026, following the cessation of severe weather warnings for intense and accumulated rainfall. The decision was confirmed in a government press release issued this morning. The lifting of restrictions affects multiple regions across Catalonia, including Barcelonès, which covers L'Hospitalet, as well as Alt Penedès, Baix Llobregat, Garraf, Vallès Occidental, Moianès, Osona, Ripollès, Alt Camp, Baix Camp, Baix Penedès, and Tarragonès.

Residents Urged to Stay Cautious

Although the formal alert has ended, authorities continue to urge caution. The ground remains saturated after prolonged rain, increasing the risk of landslips, fallen trees, and urban furniture damage, particularly along coastal areas affected by strong wave action. Núria Parlon, Minister for Interior and Public Safety, called on citizens to exercise "maximum precaution" and make a "final effort" to remain vigilant in the coming hours. Protecció Civil also maintains a pre-alert status for avalanche risks in parts of the eastern Pyrenees, where danger levels are rated at 4 out of 5. Residents and visitors are advised to avoid mountain activities outside controlled zones.

Support for Affected Households Underway

The Ajuntament de L'Hospitalet is actively working to restore normal conditions and assess storm-related damage. A support plan is being rolled out to assist residents with insurance claims. Starting Monday 5 October, affected individuals can call the municipal hotline at 010 for guidance. In the meantime, the council advises reviewing insurance policies, documenting damage with photos or videos, keeping expense receipts, and reporting incidents to insurers promptly.
