Direct Rail Services Resume After Storm Disruption
Starting today, 1st November 2026, Renfe has fully restored direct train services on the R15 line between Móra la Nova and Riba-roja d’Ebre, eliminating the need for passengers to transfer via bus. This improvement follows ten months of partial service caused by infrastructure damage from storm Harry in January 2026, which severely disrupted rail operations across the Ebro region and Camp de Tarragona. The reinstatement allows for more direct travel on the Barcelona–Casp and Barcelona–Zaragoza routes, improving reliability and convenience for commuters and long-distance passengers. According to Renfe, the change means travellers no longer need to make a forced transfer at Móra la Nova station, a measure that had been in place since May 2026 when limited rail service resumed between Móra la Nova and Reus, supplemented by bus links.
Ongoing Speed Restrictions Remain
Despite the full restoration of rail traffic, the R15 line continues to operate under temporary speed restrictions (Limitaciones Temporales de Velocidad, LTV) as infrastructure assessments and recovery work continue. Passengers are advised to check real-time schedules due to these ongoing adjustments. Current services include:
- A morning departure from Riba-roja d’Ebre at 05:30, connecting with a Móra la Nova–Barcelona service at 06:30
- Trains from Zaragoza passing through Riba-roja at 09:00 and 09:45, with the latter linking to a 10:30 departure to Barcelona
- An afternoon service from Zaragoza arriving at Riba-roja at 18:30
- A late evening train reaching Móra la Nova at 22:30, terminating there
- Three direct Barcelona–Zaragoza services passing through Riba-roja at 12:00, 19:00, and 20:15
- Additional departures from Móra la Nova to Zaragoza at 06:00 on weekdays and 09:45 on weekends
This improvement allows passengers to have a more direct service on the Barcelona–Casp and Barcelona–Zaragoza routes.
Renfe will continue to provide updates through its customer channels and the official Rodalies de Catalunya website, where revised timetables reflecting the restored service are now published. The recovery marks a significant step toward normalising regional rail operations in southern Catalonia after prolonged disruption.
