Month-long closure begins 2nd November
Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has confirmed a partial closure of the L2 metro line between La Pau and Gorg stations, beginning Monday 2nd November and lasting until at least Friday 4th December 2026. The closure affects five stations: Verneda, Artigues-Sant Adrià, and Sant Roc will remain closed for the duration, disrupting travel for an estimated 25,000 daily passengers.
Water infiltration caused platform rupture
TMB CEO Xavier Flores explained the incident originated from water filtrations beneath the track platform, following heavy rainfall earlier in October. The rising water table exerted pressure, leading to a 60-metre-long fissure in the concrete slab approximately 100 metres from Artigues | Sant Adrià station. The rupture lies beneath a set of points, which have been disabled for safety. Although the weather was not directly blamed, TMB confirmed the rainfall contributed to the increased subterranean pressure that caused the damage.
Alternative transport options
During the closure, a shuttle bus service will operate between La Pau and Badalona-Pompeu Fabra, stopping at all affected stations and running on the same schedule as the metro. Passengers will not need to validate tickets when using the shuttle. Frequency varies: every 3 to 5 minutes on weekdays, 5 to 9 minutes on Saturdays, and 7 to 11 minutes on public holidays. Other alternatives include:
- TMB’s H10 bus route, which covers the same corridor
- The L10 Nord metro line via La Sagrera, connecting from L1 or L5
- Rodalies R1 commuter rail between Clot and Badalona Pompeu Fabra
- Bus lines B25, M26, M30 and night bus N11 operated by TUSGSAL
From Paral·lel to La Pau, L2 services will run every 4 minutes 30 seconds. From Gorg to Badalona-Pompeu Fabra, trains will run every 5 minutes.
The priority must be to maintain the safety of workers and users.

Information campaign starts Friday
TMB will launch a public information campaign on Friday 30th October to inform passengers of the changes. The closure will also be used to carry out additional infrastructure improvements in the tunnel, part of a wider, long-term upgrade project on the line. More details are available on the TMB website.
