Just a brief note before the full details - Tomorrow, Friday 30th October, we return to Lemon Tree for our Halloween meetup, running from 20:00 onwards. If you have been considering joining us, this is the final reminder. Some of us are heading out afterwards to La Paloma to keep the party going - if you want to join, head to the Ravers group and say you want to join.

Register on Luma or on Meetup, whichever you prefer. It's the same night either way, and I'd like to know roughly how many of us there will be as we need to give all names to the door to get in.

Fancy dress is encouraged 👻 It is not compulsory, but the more absurd the outfit the better. See the photo above. That was a good night, and I want this one to be even better.

A safer community, largely automated

A fairly automated system now operates behind the scenes, and it is making the community safer for everyone. Bots attempt to get in every day, and we block as many as we can before they reach you. To call it janky would be giving it too much credit, and WhatsApp do not like this so I might be back to messaging all members that need to join and manually removing them before long.

We have also begun removing members who have shown no activity for two months. No activity means exactly that: not reading any messages at all. The simplest way to stay is therefore to read what is posted. Reacting is better still. Better again, contribute, help someone out and get involved. That is what makes this place work and active members are our lifeblood.

Films in English in Barcelona

For anyone wanting to watch films in English in the city, I've put together a What's On Cinema section. Listings for most films state whether they carry English or Spanish subtitles, so you can tell in advance what to expect. I have also added in ticket prices, and I will look to add in a cinema rating system so you can know what the experience will be like (iMax Diagonal Mar is still S tier).

An alert feature is available too. Should a film you're after not be screening at any cinema at present, you can set an alert and will be notified if it appears, it should also be useful for when a new film is about to show so you can get a good seat.

The newsletter now has What's On 📰

Our new weekly What's On post now features in the newsletter: a round-up of events taking place in the city this week. Since it's new, I'd like to know what you find useful, what's missing and what you would cut. Let me know and I'll improve it. You can register to get this in your inbox here.

The choice for this month is Hidden Pictures, written by Jason Rekulak. Discussion takes place at the group's meeting on 14th November, which leaves plenty of time to finish the book.

Weekly football 6v6 games are being organised by Deepak and the team, and you can check out the Play Sports and the Spond group for more details. Daria and crew are organising weekly volleyball - and you can find more details here.

Thank you

Thanks for reading and for being involved. If you have suggestions for improving the community, let me know. I. Read. Every. Message. 🫠
