Overnight Work Set for Early Wednesday
Railway infrastructure manager ADIF has announced track unloading work at Castelldefels commuter station, scheduled between 00:00 and 05:00 on Wednesday 4th November 2026. The operation will take place on the stretch between the Ànec Blau bridge and the C-32 overpass. Residents in the vicinity should expect elevated noise levels during these hours, as sections of rail arrive by train and are lowered from wagons onto rollers beside the existing tracks.
No Service Disruptions Expected
The work is part of the ongoing renovation of Castelldefels station and surrounding rail infrastructure. According to ADIF, the operation is expected to be completed in a single night. While the friction of machinery and rails on rollers will generate significant sound, normal train services are not expected to be affected. This contrasts with other phases of the wider project between Vilanova i la Geltrú and Castelldefels, which have involved service interruptions and replacement bus shuttles, particularly for late-night R2 Sud line trains. Residents can find official updates on the project through ADIF's station information page and regional rail operator notices at rodalies.gencat.cat.
These tasks may cause a high noise level during nighttime hours.
The broader improvement project, covering 23 kilometres of track and involving €23.4 million in investment, includes rail and sleeper replacement to increase reliability and performance on the R2 Sud line. The works are scheduled to continue until December 2026.
