Valencia's Education Department and teachers' unions have failed to reach an agreement during talks on Tuesday 3rd November 2026, agreeing instead to resume negotiations on Tuesday 10 November, as Vilaweb reported.
Representatives from unions STEPV, CCOO, UGT, ANPE and CSIF met with Education officials to discuss unresolved demands, including lower class sizes, sufficient staffing across all schools, and improvements to deteriorating infrastructure. No new agreements were reached at the meeting.
Education Minister Carme Ortí confirmed the next meeting will take place on 10 November to discuss staffing levels. She stated: “It is important to make clear that no issue is off-limits, no question that cannot be discussed,” she told Vilaweb.
Unions Demand Negotiation Timeline
The unions from STEPV, CCOO and UGT criticised the minister’s approach of including pending issues into existing, scheduled meetings. They announced plans to propose a dedicated negotiation calendar running up to 30 November to address outstanding concerns.
Teachers’ representatives are calling for concrete commitments on staffing and school conditions. Further industrial action remains possible if progress is not made by the end of November.
