Tens of residents in the Sant Pere Nord neighbourhood remain without a water supply after a main pipe burst on Monday evening at 9 PM, affecting properties along Doctor Ferran street between Roig Ventura and Pintor Borrassà streets.
Teams from the municipal water company Taigua have been on site since early Tuesday morning working to repair the damaged pipeline, according to a report published by Diari de Terrassa.
The outage has disrupted household access to running water, forcing affected residents to collect supplies from public fountains. One such fountain at Plaça de la Constitució, directly opposite the repair site, has been used by locals filling canisters and buckets for essential needs.
Affected households are advised to continue using public fountains until supply is fully restored, and to monitor updates via Taigua’s official channels.
Repair Efforts Underway
Engineers are working to isolate and replace the damaged section of pipe. While no estimated restoration time has been officially confirmed, Taigua crews are prioritising the repair to minimise disruption.
This incident occurs on a street previously flagged for infrastructure work. In March 2023, the neighbouring municipality of Vilassar de Dalt conducted sewage system upgrades on Doctor Ferran street through its municipal water operator, ViDA, citing deteriorated sections requiring replacement.
Local Impact and Alternatives
- Residents are advised to collect water from the fountain at Plaça de la Constitució.
- Households with young children, elderly or vulnerable members are encouraged to contact Taigua for assistance.
- No alternative water points have been set up by the council as of 11:14 Tuesday.
