- The Maresme coast and Empordà are expected to remain affected during the morning.
- All counties in Girona province are included in the forecast area.
- Northern and eastern parts of Barcelona province may also see heavy rain.
- Western and southern Catalonia should become calmer during the morning, with sunshine or lingering cloud.
The Meteocat warning thresholds reported by ARA cover rainfall exceeding 40 litres per square metre in 30 minutes, 90 litres in three hours and 200 litres in 24 hours. Meteocat is Catalonia's public meteorological service.
Storm system expected to move north this afternoon
The main disturbance is expected to move towards Northern Catalonia during the afternoon, although strong thunderstorms could form again along the northern coast. New showers are forecast for the Pyrenees, Pre-Pyrenees and pre-coastal districts, including the southern pre-coastal area, but are expected to be more scattered and less intense.
By the end of the day, isolated showers may persist around the Costa Brava or Costa Daurada. Daytime temperatures could rise by 3–4°C across much of southern Catalonia, while the far north-east is expected to remain cooler under cloud and rain. Highs could reach about 27°C in Ponent and the Ebro Valley.
