Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) is throwing open some of its most obscure facilities to visitors as part of European Mobility Week 2026. On the weekend of 19 and 20 September, free guided tours will take in the Gaudí "ghost station", which never saw a single passenger, along with the Santa Eulàlia and ZAL metro workshops. Reservations can be made from Monday 14 September via the Barcelona City Council website.

Three free visits

Each of the three tours is free of charge, has a capped number of spaces and requires booking beforehand.

  • Gaudí station: tours run for 20 minutes, with nine slots daily at half-hourly intervals between 09:30 and 13:30, admitting 20 people each.
  • Santa Eulàlia metro workshops: the Barcelona metro's oldest workshops, in use since 1922 and listed as a cultural asset of local interest in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, where L1 trains are serviced. Each visit lasts 25 minutes; six slots are offered daily at 09:30, 10:15, 11:00, 11:45, 12:30 and 13:15, with eight people admitted per slot.
  • ZAL workshops: over 10,000 m² of depots and maintenance areas in the Zona Franca. Visits take 20 minutes, with eight slots a day at 30-minute intervals from 09:30 to 13:00, admitting 20 people each.

Classic buses on Passeig de Gràcia

The Barcelona Classic Bus Exhibition is heading into the city centre for the first time, taking over Passeig de Gràcia between Plaça de Catalunya and Gran Via. It runs on Friday 18 September, 12:00 to 20:00, and Saturday 19 September, 10:00 to 19:00. More than 30 vehicles will be on display, spanning the Tilling-Stevens model that launched the city's bus network in 1922 through to today's low-emission buses. TMB, the Fundació TMB, Sagalés and ARCA are behind the event, which attracts over 8,000 visitors annually.

X1 express bus extended

The X1 express bus will begin serving Zona Universitària from Monday 21 September, with the route stretched beyond Plaça de Francesc Macià to Avinguda d'Albert Bastardas, at the far end of the Diagonal. According to TMB, the extension is intended to provide a quick link between the Eixample and Glòries areas and the university campus, and to make it simpler to reach the metro, the tram and interurban buses from the Baix Llobregat.

Barcelona's Mobility Week takes place between 16 and 22 September, offering roughly 40 events citywide and 2,000 spots for the open days.

Correction, 26 September 2026: This article has been rewritten so that it reflects the announcement TMB issued on 13 September 2026. A previous version had covered the 2025 open days run by TMB, mentioning the Correus station, eight sites, 5,033 tickets, the first tours on 13 and 14 September, and an X1 extension to the Zona Franca.
