Service Restored After Summer Works
From Monday, 7 September 2026, full metro service resumes on Line L9/10 Nord between La Sagrera and Bon Pastor stations. The restoration follows the completion of structural works at the line’s main shaft, known as the macropozo, which had required temporary closures over recent weeks. Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) confirmed that normal operations will restart at 5:00 AM on 7 September, with trains running without restrictions across the shared northern section of L9 and L10.
Two-Phase Works Completed
The improvement project was carried out in two phases. The first, from 25 June to 30 August, affected the segment between La Sagrera and Onze de Setembre. The second phase, lasting one week from 31 August to 6 September, extended the closure to include Bon Pastor station. These works, executed by the Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition of the Generalitat de Catalunya, form part of the larger effort to connect the northern branches of L9/10 with the central section of the line. The intervention includes modifications within an open-air shaft where the L9/L10 tunnel intersects with the future extension of Line L4 between La Pau and La Sagrera. The total budget for this phase of work is €22.6 million.
- First phase: 25 June – 30 August – La Sagrera to Onze de Setembre
- Second phase: 31 August – 6 September – La Sagrera to Bon Pastor
During the disruption, TMB operated a substitute bus service with frequencies of six to eleven minutes on weekdays and ten minutes on weekends and public holidays. Passengers were also advised to use alternative routes including Line L1 via Fondo, Line L2 via Gorg, and regular bus line H8.
Ridership During Disruption
Average daily validations on the affected section were 3,295 in July and dropped to 2,386 in August, reflecting seasonal travel patterns. The reduction aligns with typical summer mobility trends in Barcelona. With the works now complete, passengers are advised that regular schedules and connections are fully reinstated.
"From tomorrow, 7 September, trains will run normally again on the L9/10 Nord between La Sagrera and Bon Pastor.", TMB press release, 6 September 2026
