Robbery in Broad Daylight
Two teenagers have been arrested in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat after violently snatching a gold chain from a 63-year-old woman in a daylight robbery. The incident occurred on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, at around 1:30 PM at the intersection of Carrer Teide and Avinguda del Nord in the La Florida neighbourhood. Witnesses reported the robbery to the Guàrdia Urbana, Barcelona's municipal police, prompting the immediate dispatch of four patrol units. Officers arrived in time to see the two suspects attempting to flee the scene. One suspect, aged 18, fled on foot but was apprehended minutes later after being recognised by officers. The second, aged 17, attempted to escape on an electric scooter but was surrounded and detained by police.
Victim Treated at Scene
The victim suffered minor injuries after one of the thieves yanked the chain directly from her neck. Emergency medical personnel from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) were called to the scene and provided on-site treatment. The injuries were not serious, and she did not require hospitalisation. The stolen gold chain was recovered and returned to the woman. Both suspects have been charged with robbery with violence.
The swift response of our officers prevented the suspects from escaping and ensured the recovery of the stolen item.
The Guàrdia Urbana continues to strengthen patrols in the area, particularly in response to incidents involving thefts carried out on foot or via electric scooters. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, especially when walking in busy public areas.
