Bus passengers using Sants station will face changes to several routes and stops when Barcelona City Council applies a new traffic layout around the station in July. The changes are intended to allow ADIF's first-stage works at the station, including an enlarged foyer beside Plaça dels Països Catalans and restoration of the square.

For commuters and residents in Sants, the immediate consequence is that the terminals for lines 27 and 78 will move from Plaça dels Països Catalans to Plaça Joan Peiró. The V5 will retain its current stop there.

Bus routes and stops affected around Sants station

According to the Barcelona City Council notice, the planned changes include:

  • lines 27 and 78 moving their terminals to Plaça Joan Peiró;
  • H10 stops in both directions on the side of the station nearest the sea;
  • 115 stops towards Besòs on that same side; and
  • modified 109 stops, intended to maintain a connection with Sants station.

The council says traffic will be shifted away from the station side nearest the mountain. A street on the sea-facing side, previously reserved for pedestrians, will become two-way, with one lane for private vehicles and one bus lane in each direction.

Traffic arrangements will also change on sections of Pg. Sant Antoni and where Numancia, Tarragona, Provença and Av. Roma meet.

Works aim to alter access to the station

The council says the remodelling promoted by ADIF is intended to give Sants station access from both sides and increase pedestrian space around it. It states that 85% of the surrounding space will be for pedestrians once the process is complete.

The supplied material does not give a confirmed timetable or specific measures for reconciling these works with the Obrim Carrers programme in Sants. Passengers should check the council's official traffic-change notice before travelling through the station area in July.
