Purple Points to Promote Safe Celebrations

The Sant Martí District is launching a safety initiative for the Poblenou 2026 Fiesta Mayor, introducing temporary 'purple points' to prevent sexist and LGTBI-phobic aggressions during the festivities, which run from 10 to 20 September. These support spaces will operate with trained professionals who can offer immediate assistance, carry out preventive outreach, and activate appropriate resources if needed. The term 'purple gaze' reflects the city council’s commitment to fostering inclusive, violence-free public events.

Locations and Operating Hours

Two fixed purple points will be located in central areas of the neighbourhood. One will be at Rambla del Poblenou, 49, facing the Poblenou Neighborhood Center (Casal de Barri del Poblenou). The second will be in Plaça Josep Maria Huertas Claveria, though it will remain closed on Thursday, 10 September. Both will be open from 10:30 PM to 3:30 AM on 11, 12, 18, and 19 September. A third point will operate at Espigón del Bogatell near the coast, offering support on Friday nights, Saturdays, and holiday eves from 10 PM to 6 AM.

Alongside these on-site measures, the Barcelona City Council reminds the public of permanent support services. These include the free helpline 900 900 120 for gender-based violence, the Barcelona Emergency and Social Urgency Center (CUESB) at 900 703 030, and a dedicated police WhatsApp service at 601 001 122. In urgent situations, residents and visitors should call 112.

The municipal commitment is to consolidate a Barcelona based on rights, equality, and opportunities, also in the leisure and celebration spaces of the neighborhoods.

The Department of Feminisms and LGTBI leads these efforts, coordinating a network of resources to defend women's and LGTBI rights, promote egalitarian relationships, and advance zero tolerance for gender-based violence.

Safe Movement Across the Neighbourhood

To further ensure safety, the Urban Guard has established designated safe routes throughout the festival zone, particularly active during peak nighttime hours. These routes aim to help both residents and visitors move with greater confidence through crowded areas.
