One of Barcelona’s oldest local festivals returns in September
The Festa Major de la Font del Mont 2026 will run from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 September in the mountain neighbourhoods of Vallvidrera, el Tibidabo and Les Planes. According to Barcelona City Council’s cultural office, this is one of the city’s oldest festivals, with roots dating back to the 1940s when sardanas, ping-pong tournaments, music, Carnival and carol singing were already held in Plaça Major. Residents and visitors can expect a mix of cultural, sporting and community events across the four days, with the main activities concentrated over the weekend.
Detailed programme announced
The festivities begin on Thursday 3 September at 9pm with the official opening speech and a concert by the Vallvidrera Chamber Orchestra.
