Barcelona City Council has given final approval for a significant street revamp on Calle de la Jota in the Vilapicina i la Torre Llobeta neighbourhood of Nou Barris. This €626,000 project will transform the street's final section, improving conditions for residents and aligning with ongoing works on Avenida Meridiana.

The works will start during the third quarter of this year. Officials expect the construction to last five months. This intervention focuses on the stretch between Calle Pardo and Avenida Meridiana. The council stated the project aims to "improve and adapt" the street's current conditions.

Enhancing Local Infrastructure

This includes upgrades to mobility, accessibility, and street lighting. Additionally, the plan involves renewing essential services in the area. New materials will also be used for pavements and road surfaces. The Ajuntament highlighted the need to modernise this part of the street.

The renovated section is closest to the current Avenida Meridiana works. These larger urban improvements are set to conclude by the end of the year. The Avenida Meridiana project has been a major focus for the city. It aims to create a more pedestrian-friendly and sustainable urban corridor. Nou Barris, home to over 170,000 residents, frequently benefits from such infrastructure investments. These projects enhance daily life for local communities, improving public spaces and connectivity.

Future Improvements for Residents

Residents in Vilapicina i la Torre Llobeta can expect improved public spaces and better connectivity once the Calle de la Jota works finish. The project's completion will mark another step in the broader urban renewal efforts across Barcelona. These continuous upgrades aim to make the city more liveable for everyone.
