Five minors were taken to Hospital de Vic after being injured on a fairground attraction during Tona’s Festa Major, in Barcelona province, at about 12.15am on Wednesday 5 August. Three were assessed as having less serious injuries and two had minor injuries, according to the Servei d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM), Catalonia’s medical emergency service, speaking to Europa Press.
The incident affected nine people in total, including eight minors and one adult, according to information first reported by 3CatInfo and cited by Europa Press. Six SEM ambulances attended, alongside Bombers firefighters, Mossos d’Esquadra regional police and Tona’s local police.
Police investigate possible fault in door restraint
Mossos d’Esquadra said their main line of inquiry is a mechanical failure in the mechanism that keeps the door closed on the pot-shaped ride. The cause has not been established.
