Integrated Care Hub for Castelldefels

The new CAP Castelldefels Muntanyeta will open on Tuesday 10th November 2026, consolidating primary care, paediatrics, outpatient rehabilitation, and mental health services for adults, children, and young people under one roof. The 3,780-square-metre facility, built on land donated by Castelldefels City Council, aims to improve coordinated and integrated healthcare across the municipality. Managed by the Consorci Castelldefels Agents de Salut (CASAP), which also runs the existing CAP Can Bou, the centre will house a new primary care team offering family and community medicine, nursing, sanitary social work, citizen services, dentistry, community emotional well-being, physiotherapy, dietetics and nutrition, and dental hygiene.

Advanced Equipment and Centralised Services

The centre will be equipped with modern medical technology, including eight ultrasound machines, an electrocardiogram system linked to the Electronic Health Record (HES), and dermatoscopes for skin assessment. From its opening day, it will centralise all paediatric care in Castelldefels into a single territorial team. The relocation of the outpatient rehabilitation service from CAP El Castell, along with the Adult Mental Health Centre (CSMA) and the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Centre (CSMIJ), will support greater collaboration among professionals.

Staff Expansion and Transition Support

The launch of the new CAP will lead to an increase in healthcare professionals in Castelldefels, strengthening the municipality's healthcare resources.

To ensure continuity of care during the transition, a dedicated citizen support system is already in place at CAP El Castell and CAP Can Bou. This support will also be available at CAP Muntanyeta from day one. The construction and equipping of the centre represented a total investment of €10,860,000. The architectural design by Albert Vitaller Arquitectura S.L.P. prioritises natural light and ventilation, with energy efficiency strategies embedded throughout.

What This Means for Residents

Residents will be able to access a broader range of services in one location from 10th November. The centralisation of paediatric and mental health services is expected to reduce appointment delays and improve care coordination. Those registered at CAP El Castell or Can Bou should check with their current centre for updates on service transfers. More information is available via the official city council announcement.
