A minor has been arrested after a man died from a knife attack in Barcelona's city centre early this morning, an incident reportedly following a robbery involving the victim.

Police sources indicate the alleged perpetrator suffered a robbery by a group, which included the man who later died. The minor then reportedly retaliated with a knife attack a few metres away on Carrer de la Cera in El Raval.

Medical Emergency Services (SEM) attended to the injured man, who was in critical condition. They transported him to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Mossos d'Esquadra received notification of the incident minutes before midnight. Shortly after, the Barcelona Urban Guard located and arrested the minor. The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Mossos d'Esquadra now leads the case, which remains under judicial secrecy. El Raval, part of the Ciutat Vella district, is a densely populated area known for its vibrant community and occasional crime incidents, making such violent events particularly concerning for residents and visitors alike.

Second Fatal Stabbing in Barcelona Area

This marks the second violent knife death in the Barcelona metropolitan area within a short period. On Saturday morning, a man murdered a young woman near Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Esplugues de Llobregat, despite having no prior relationship with the victim. The attacker stabbed her multiple times. Mossos d'Esquadra pursued him along Barcelona's Diagonal before arresting him in the Les Corts neighbourhood.

Authorities continue their investigation into both incidents. These events raise concerns about public safety and violent crime in Barcelona and its surrounding areas.
