A man fell onto the tracks at Entença station on Tuesday 3rd November, leading to the temporary suspension of L5 metro service during peak afternoon hours. According to Barcelona City Council sources, emergency services rescued the individual, who was taken to hospital in minor condition by the Emergency Medical System (SEM).

TMB, Barcelona’s public transport operator, announced the disruption on social media at 5:51 PM and confirmed service restoration at 6:09 PM. During the closure, L5 operated in two separate segments: between Cornellà | Centre and Sants Estació to the west, and between Diagonal and Vall d’Hebron to the north. The affected section without service spanned between Sants Estació and Diagonal.

After services resumed, long queues formed at stations including Diagonal, as TMB staff regulated access to platforms. Eyewitnesses reported overcrowding while normal operations were gradually restored. This was compounded by a Champions League match at Spotify Camp Nou that evening between FC Barcelona and Aston Villa, prompting increased passenger numbers heading toward the stadium.

Partial Closure on L2 Until December

Separately, L2 has been operating with a partial closure from Monday 2nd November until Thursday 3rd December due to repair works on a crack in the track near Artigues | Sant Adrià station. The issue emerged following heavy rains in early October. Service is suspended between Gorg and La Pau stations, affecting three stops: La Verneda, Artigues | Sant Adrià, and Sant Roc.

TMB has implemented a shuttle bus service to cover the gap, with buses running every 3 to 5 minutes on weekdays. The shuttle stops at all affected stations and requires no ticket validation. Alternative routes include TMB’s H10 bus line and Rodalies R1 service between Clot and Badalona Pompeu Fabra. Passengers are advised to check transport alternatives via TMB’s official notice.
