Arrest Made Following Break-in Attempts

The Local Police of Santa Coloma de Gramenet have arrested a man this Saturday, 12 September 2026, on suspicion of attempting forced entry into several homes in District V, which includes the Raval, Santa Rosa, and Safaretjos neighbourhoods. Officers responded after receiving reports that an individual was trying to gain access to multiple dwellings with the intent to steal. Upon arrival, they collected witness statements and reviewed evidence before locating and detaining the suspect. The man is being held as the alleged perpetrator of attempted robbery with force, according to information published by Metrópoli Abierta and confirmed via the Ajuntament de Santa Coloma de Gramenet’s official communications.

This incident comes amid broader efforts by local authorities to maintain public safety. According to a June 2026 update from the Ajuntament, Santa Coloma has recorded eight consecutive quarters of declining crime rates, with overall offences down 1.1%. The municipality has reinforced its Local Police force this year, integrating ten new officers as part of a wider civic security strategy. Enhanced video surveillance and inter-agency operations have also contributed to a sustained improvement in citizen security indicators since implementation. Residents can contact the Central Police Station at Carrer de Sant Jordi, 40, or call 934 62 40 10 to report incidents or obtain information.
