La Oreja de Van Gogh opened their Tantas cosas que contar tour at Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona on Saturday 7th November 2026, marking the first of four scheduled concerts in the city. The performance, attended by around 17,000 fans, celebrated over three decades of the band’s music, drawing heavily on hits from the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The concert began with “20 de enero”, as lead singer Amaia Montero emerged on a raised platform, setting the tone for what she promised would be a celebration. The setlist included fan favourites such as “Rosas”, “Cuéntame al oído”, and “Puedes contar conmigo”, which closed the nearly two-hour show. Midway through, Montero sang a fragment of Sau’s “Boig per tu” as a bridge into “La playa”, a moment that drew some of the loudest cheers of the night.
Montero’s return and public scrutiny
Montero, who first left the band in 2007 and returned in October 2025 after 18 years, has been the focus of intense social media discussion. Her vocal performance drew mixed reactions, with some audience members noting pitch issues during certain songs. Despite this, she was met with sustained applause and chants of “Guapa” from the crowd.
"Thank you very much, I am suffering a lot,"
Montero wrote in an Instagram comment last month, responding to content creator Arnau de la Eygee’s public defence of her against online criticism. The band’s official return with Montero was confirmed in October 2025, alongside the announcement that founding guitarist Pablo Benegas would step back from active touring.
Three decades of music
Formed in Donostia (San Sebastián) in 1996, La Oreja de Van Gogh rose to fame with their debut album Dile al Sol in 1998. Over their 30-year career, they have sold more than eight million records and amassed over 14.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify. The current lineup includes Montero, Xabi San Martín (keyboards), Álvaro Fuentes (bass), and Haritz Garde (drums).
The Tantas cosas que contar tour began in May 2025 in Bilbao and has since expanded due to high demand. After the initial Friday night concert in Barcelona sold out, three additional dates were added: Saturday 7th, and later concerts on 26th and 27th November. Tickets for the remaining shows can be purchased via the official tour page at laorejadevangogh.com.
