Free Concerts Mark Catalonia’s National Day
The 23rd edition of Òmnium Cultural’s Festa per la Llibertat will take place on September 11 at Passeig de Lluís Companys in Barcelona, culminating in a free open-air concert headlined by the Valencian group La Gossa Sorda. The event marks Catalonia’s National Day, known as the Diada, and brings together cultural, political, and musical activities for thousands of attendees near the Arc de Triomf. La Gossa Sorda’s performance will be their first and only free concert in Catalonia this year, following their return to live performances in April after nearly a decade away from the stage. Their set begins at 21:30, forming the centrepiece of the evening’s music programme.
The concert will be the first and only free one the Valencian group will offer in Catalonia this year.
Full Line-Up and Day-Long Events
Before La Gossa Sorda take the stage, DJ Trapella will open the musical segment at 19:00. DJ K-ZU will close the night at 23:45 with electronic remixes of Catalan classics. The concerts follow a day of cultural and political engagement, including the MerCat fair, exhibitions of Òmnium’s campaigns, and a central political act at 12:00. The Festa per la Llibertat closes the Diada events after the day’s main demonstration, which is jointly organised by Òmnium Cultural, the ANC, the Consell per la República, and other pro-independence organisations.
Residents and visitors attending the event should note that Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) and the Barcelona City Council will reinforce public transport on Thursday, September 11. Bus routes near the Arc de Triomf may be modified or suspended temporarily. Details on service adjustments are available on the TMB website. The Passeig de Lluís Companys will host activities from 10:00 until the evening, offering a full day of music, civic engagement, and cultural celebration in Catalan.
