Barcelona residents and visitors can visit Rebels Beyond the Galaxy, a free exhibition of original Star Wars film items, at CASA CUPRA Raval on Passeig de Gràcia until 22 September. The exhibition includes costumes, helmets, spacecraft, life-size figures, busts and dioramas from one of Europe’s largest private collections dedicated to the film saga.

Barcelona City Council lists free entry from Monday to Saturday, 9.00am to 8.00pm, at CASA CUPRA Raval, Passeig de Gràcia 109–111, in the Vila de Gràcia neighbourhood. Visitors can check the Ajuntament de Barcelona event listing for the venue and opening hours.

Collection assembled by Alfredo Calles

The show is curated by Alfredo Calles, who began collecting after seeing the first Star Wars film in 1977. He later focused his collection on the original trilogy, according to La Vanguardia.

“At the exhibition, we could be talking about between 150 and 200 pieces,” Calles told La Vanguardia.

The selection includes signed photographs, masks, scripts, storyboards and models, alongside objects used during film productions. Calles said he began building the collection in 2004, once he had the income and space to do so.

Free Tuesday film series in August

CASA CUPRA Raval will add a free film series on Tuesdays during August. The venue is also home to REV EL BAR, which offers local-produce cooking and an outdoor terrace.
