Emergency support available at OAC offices
The Sant Cugat City Council is providing immediate, no-appointment-necessary assistance to residents affected by the heavy rains on Tuesday, 29 September 2026. This service is available at the central Citizen Attention Office (OAC) at City Hall and at district-level OACs across the municipality. The measure aims to help people resolve doubts, receive guidance, and understand next steps following damage caused by the storm, which triggered flooding in homes, ground floors, businesses and garages.
We must be able to help and support them, said Deputy Mayor Bernat Picornell.
Over 30 displaced, four rehoused by council
According to the council, 35 people were unable to stay in their homes overnight due to storm damage. Of these, 31 found accommodation with family or friends, while four were rehoused by the council through emergency housing provisions. The council has not yet released a full count of affected residents but confirmed ongoing assessments. A dedicated information point has been set up at the OAC to guide people on insurance claims, administrative procedures and other post-storm needs.
I don't recall in Sant Cugat so much rain falling in such a short time, said Mayor Josep Maria Vallès.
City to review flood-prone areas
The council will analyse the city's drainage system and sewer capacity following the downpour, particularly in areas not previously prone to flooding, such as parts of the Floresta district and Carrer de Sant Jordi. At least 33 people from seven households in Floresta and nine in Carrer de Sant Jordi were affected. One family formally requested rehousing; the rest arranged alternative accommodation privately. Residents needing emergency housing can apply via the Social Emergency Housing Application portal.
