Autumn Dates for 75th Edition

The Fira del Llibre d’Ocasió Antic i Modern, a landmark event for book lovers in Barcelona, will be held from Friday 16 October to Sunday 1 November 2026. The fair will occupy Passeig de Gràcia between Carrer del Consell de Cent and Gran Via, marking its return to an autumn schedule. This year’s event celebrates the 75th edition of the fair, which has long been a fixture in the city’s cultural calendar. It is organised by the Gremi de Llibreters de Vell de Catalunya, the Catalan Association of Second-hand Booksellers.

What to Expect at the Fair

Visitors can browse 29 stalls operated by second-hand and antiquarian bookshops from across Catalonia. The selection will include old and second-hand books, out-of-print editions, rare volumes, first editions, original manuscripts, and literary finds ranging from the 16th century to contemporary works. Prices will vary from as low as €3 to values reflecting rarity and collectability. The fair will feature long-established family-run bookshops as well as projects that, though no longer operating physical stores, continue to participate annually. A central exhibition will be unveiled at the opening event, with the fair’s official poster designed by Rosa Vives, a renowned engraver. Her artwork reflects the event’s theme through a blend of classic typography and contemporary lines, engaging with the duality of old and modern.

The poster is a declaration of intent where different textures, classic typography, abstract and contemporary lines dialogue, and at the same time plays with the duality between the old and the modern.

Inaugural Event Details

The official opening will begin on Friday 9 October 2026 with two events:

  • 6:20 PM: Placement of the inaugural plaque at the junction of Gran Via and Passeig de Gràcia.
  • 7:00 PM: Inaugural ceremony at Llibreria Ona (Pau Claris, 94), featuring institutional speeches and the opening address by writer and journalist Toni Soler.

The fair itself will open to the public a week later, on 16 October.
