Major Festival Takes Place in Early October
The Festa Major de les Corts 2026 will take place from Friday 2 October to Monday 12 October, bringing a full programme of traditional and contemporary activities to the Corts neighbourhood in Barcelona.
This is one of the key events on the city’s annual festival calendar, celebrating local culture, music, and heritage. The festivities are organised by the Ajuntament de Barcelona (Barcelona City Council) and supported by district associations.
Key Events Across the Festival
- Friday 2 October: The festival opens at 21:00 with a satirical pregó (opening address) in Plaça de Comas, followed by a fire and percussion show, a lively procession, and closing fireworks.
- Saturday 3 October: Festivities begin at 09:30 with the planting of giants and dragons (bèsties, gegants i gegantes) in Plaça de la Concòrdia. A bell-ringing procession starts at 10:30, leading to the official pregó at 12:00 in Plaça de Comas. The day continues with a pastoral dance, a unified percussion parade through several streets, devil performances (versots), a correfoc (fire run), and a final burning ritual at 22:15.
Additional events throughout the 11-day celebration will include family activities, live music, traditional dances, and community gatherings across public spaces in the Corts district.
