Emergency Measures Activated
The Barcelona City Council has activated the emergency phase of its Municipal Emergency Action Plan for Flood Risk due to persistent heavy rainfall on Saturday, 3 October 2026. Residents are advised to avoid areas at risk of flooding and secure outdoor items that could be swept away.
Facility and Event Closures
All public parks, interior block courtyards, libraries, municipal markets and civic centres have been closed. Tibidabo Amusement Park, Barcelona Zoo, Park Güell and all municipal museums remain shut until 14:00 on Sunday, 4 October. The Sant Antoni Sunday Market has been cancelled.
Cultural events have also been called off, including the 125th-anniversary celebration of Tibidabo Amusement Park, two concerts at the Olympic Ring and performances at L’Auditori and Mercat de les Flors.
All outdoor activities and neighbourhood festival events have been suspended to ensure public safety.
Public Transport Suspension
TMB and FGC public transport services will not operate between 00:00 and 05:00 on Sunday, 4 October. Several metro station entrances, including those at Rocafort, Bruc, Almogàvers and Catalunya, will be closed during this period.
Bicing bike-sharing services were suspended at 20:00 on Saturday, and mechanical stairways on Montjuïc mountain are no longer in service.
Social Support and Cleanliness Services
The Centre for Urgency and Social Emergencies (CUESB) at Dos de Maig is providing emergency shelter for homeless individuals. The Emergency Shelter Centre (CAE) and Short-Stay Centre (CEB) remain operational for urgent cases.
City cleaning crews have been instructed to return to their depots for safety.
