Planned Closures for Flanders Square Renovation
The renovation of Plaça de Flandes continues this weekend with scheduled asphalt work across several streets in the Gràcia district of Barcelona. On Sunday 8th November, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., sections of Carrer de Rubens and Carrer del Beat Almató will be closed to traffic. The asphalt work also extends to Passeig de la Mare de Déu del Coll, where two-way vehicle circulation will be maintained despite the ongoing improvements. This phase of work is part of the broader Pla de Manteniment Integral (PMI), a city-wide initiative aimed at enhancing public space quality and mobility in the district.
Access Restrictions During Works
During the closure, access to the affected road sections will be limited to resident vehicles and essential service traffic only. The restrictions are designed to allow construction crews to carry out resurfacing safely while minimising long-term disruption. Residents and visitors are advised to plan alternative routes for Sunday travel. The improvements form part of wider upgrades in Gràcia, including pavement renovations and lighting renewals on other key streets such as Travessera de Gràcia and Carrer de Sant Lluís.
The asphalt work follows previous infrastructure upgrades in the area, including recent paving on Carrer de les Ciències in Horta-Guinardó and utility works on Carrer de Tirso. Further details about ongoing public works in Gràcia are available via the Ajuntament's official works portal.
