93 Public Housing Units Now Available Across Catalonia

The Spanish government has launched its new public housing portal, Casa 47, offering 93 affordable rental homes across Catalonia, including 25 in the province of Barcelona. The platform went live on Monday, 7 September 2026, as part of a national rollout that includes over 800 homes in total. Monthly rents in Catalonia range from €305 to €1,012, depending on location, property size, and local income levels. All contracts begin with a 14-year term and are extendable up to 75 years, designed to ensure long-term stability and protect tenants from market volatility.

Locations and Availability

The 93 homes in Catalonia are distributed as follows: 25 in Barcelona, 56 in Tarragona, 7 in Lleida, and 5 in Girona. Municipalities with multiple listings include La Ràpita (19 homes), El Vendrell (17), Amposta (11), and La Pobla de Mafumet (9). These properties are part of Spain’s first dedicated state-owned housing stock portal, managed directly by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda. Government sources confirm that an additional 1,500 homes will be added to the platform in the coming months, with quarterly expansions planned to increase supply.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be Spanish nationals or hold a valid residence permit;
  • Be of legal age and not own another home;
  • Have a combined household income between two and seven times the IPREM, currently between €16,800 and €63,000 annually;
  • Be up to date with Tax Agency and Social Security payments.

For adapted or reserved units, a recognised disability assessed at 33% or more is required. Allocation also considers proportionality between household size and property capacity.

Applications are processed exclusively through the official Casa 47 website. Users can search listings by region, filter by size and price, and submit applications based on eligibility. The system ensures rent never exceeds 30% of the tenant’s income, aligning with national affordability goals. These homes are legally protected from speculation, subletting for profit, or removal from the public rental stock.
