2026 road deaths reach 98

According to provisional data from the Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT), these two incidents bring the number of road fatalities in Catalonia since the beginning of 2026 to 98. The SCT's 2023 Statistical Yearbook of Traffic Accidents in Catalonia, published in 2024, notes that vulnerable road users, including motorcyclists, remain disproportionately affected in traffic incidents. The rise in road deaths comes amid increased mobility linked to economic and leisure activity, though long-term trends since 2019 show a sustained reduction in overall traffic fatalities, according to the SCT's 2023 annual report.
