Purple Points and Safety Tools for Festival-Goers
The Sant Feliu de Llobregat City Council will launch three 'punts lila' (purple points) during the upcoming Autumn Festival to promote safety and prevent gender-based violence. These designated support zones will be located at Parc del Vuit de Març, the athletics track, and Carrer de Joan Maragall. The purple points will operate during festival nights from Thursday 8 October to Sunday 11 October. At Parc del Vuit de Març, they will be open from 00:00 to 04:00 between 8 and 11 October. On Carrer de Joan Maragall, support will be available daily from 23:30 to 04:30. The athletics track location will be staffed from 23:00 to 04:30 on Friday 9, Saturday 10, and Sunday 11 October. A new feature this year is the distribution of 'sentinel bracelets', which contain two reagents capable of detecting narcotic substances in drinks. The bracelets are a preventive tool designed to enhance municipal safety protocols at leisure events, offering quick results and reinforcing the city’s commitment to safety. Each bracelet includes a QR code linking to usage instructions, an explanatory video, and an interpretation guide. It also allows users to access emergency services directly via 112 and share their location with trusted contacts.
Health Points and Municipal Support
In addition to the purple points, health services will be available at Parc del Vuit de Març on Thursday 8 October from 00:00 to 04:00, and at the athletics track on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 October from 23:00 to 04:30. The initiative forms part of a broader effort by the Ajuntament de Sant Feliu de Llobregat to provide information, prevention, detection, and support in cases of gender-based and LGTBIphobic violence during public events. This year’s festival measures follow a municipal contract valued at €44,145.24 (including VAT) for the provision of purple point services in public leisure contexts.
These wristbands are a preventive tool designed to enhance municipal safety protocols at leisure events, offering quick results and a clear message of commitment to safety.
The purple points will serve as safe spaces for women and vulnerable groups, offering immediate support and referrals. The city council’s action aligns with the Barcelona Provincial Council’s 'Xarxa de Punts Lila' programme, which supports 15 municipalities through 2026 in promoting awareness and prevention of sexist behaviour in public spaces.
