Major Road Closures on Ronda de Dalt
Sections of the Ronda de Dalt were closed in both directions on Tuesday 29 September 2026 due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall. A three-kilometer stretch towards the Nus de la Trinitat was reopened after 14:00 following a two-hour closure. However, as of 14:50, another three-kilometer section heading towards Llobregat remained shut. Traffic congestion was reported within Santa Coloma de Gramenet, and major junctions including Carrer Bailèn at Indústria and sections of Avinguda Meridiana were flooded, further hampering movement.
Widespread Metro Disruptions
Barcelona’s metro network suffered extensive service interruptions. Line 5 was not operating between Collblanc and Hospital Clínic. Trains on the same line bypassed Sagrada Família station in the direction of Cornellà Centre due to flooding, though service has since resumed. Water leaks were reported at multiple stations, including Virrei Amat. Line 4 is currently inoperable between Verdaguer and Trinitat Nova. On Line 1, trains are skipping the Arc de Triomf platform in the direction of Fondo due to water accumulation. Line 3 service is suspended between Liceu and Vall d'Hebron. Line 9 Sud does not run between Mas Blau and Parc Nou, and Line 11 is inoperable between Ciutat Meridiana and Can Cuiàs. Several station entrances, including Plaça de Sants, Urquinaona, Badal, Sant Andreu, and Diagonal, were closed due to standing water. Similar flooding affected La Florida in L'Hospitalet and La Salut in Badalona.
The most visible impact for users has been on Barcelona's metro lines L2 and L3, where entire sections have had to be closed due to flooding and associated power outages.
On Line 2, service was limited to the stretch between Paral·lel and Artigues | Sant Adrià. The northern section towards Badalona Pompeu Fabra remained out of service, leaving stations at Sant Roc, Gorg, Pep Ventura, and Badalona Pompeu Fabra closed. Gorg station in Badalona was completely shut due to flooding. At Liceu station on Line 3, water flooded part of the track and one platform, forcing a partial closure.
Bus, Rodalies and Regional Impact
Bus services were also affected, with Line 112 and others forced to cancel stops due to impassable roads. Rodalies lines R2, R2 Nord, and R11 were interrupted between Sant Andreu and Montcada i Reixac due to a technical fault. The Renfe workshops in Sant Andreu Comtal were flooded, halting operations. Underground areas of Hospital Vall d'Hebron were also inundated. The metro tunnel at Caçador on the Ronda de Dalt was closed overnight after flooding at 21:46 on 28 September, with full traffic restored by 02:40 on 29 September. Rainfall totals reached 125 litres per square metre at the Rectoret weather station, with 81 litres recorded at Observatori Fabra and 73 at Vallcarca. In Badalona, unofficial stations reported over 120 litres per square metre, contributing to severe localised flooding.
