Speed Restrictions in Place Across Multiple Rodalies Lines
Train services on the R2 Sud, R2 Nord, R3, R4, and R8 lines of Catalonia’s Rodalies network are operating under speed restrictions on Tuesday 29 September 2026 due to torrential rainfall. The safety measures were implemented by Renfe in coordination with Protecció Civil, which issued a red weather alert affecting 14 comarques across the region. Passengers should expect delays and altered schedules, particularly on routes passing through high-risk areas where landslides or track flooding could occur. The restrictions are in place to ensure safety while conditions remain unstable.
No Service Disruptions from Theft Incidents
Earlier disruptions caused by cable theft between Mollet-Sant Fost and Granollers on the R8 and R2 Nord lines were resolved by Monday evening. According to Adif, the infrastructure manager, the service has been fully restored and is no longer affecting today’s operations. The incident, which led to bus substitutions and significant delays, was the third of its kind in the Vallès Oriental corridor within four months. A Ministry of Transport spokesperson confirmed that an audit of all substation security along the corridor will be completed by 15 October 2026.

Commuters are advised to check real-time service status before travelling. Renfe recommends allowing extra time for journeys and monitoring updates via its official X account and the El Nacional live tracker. Rodalies confirmed that 80% of the scheduled service was operating as planned by 08:45 this morning, with adjustments continuing as weather conditions evolve.
