Reduced R7 Service in Place
Passengers on the R7 Rodalies line between Cerdanyola and Montcada are facing significantly reduced service on Monday 28 September 2026, with just one train per hour running in each direction. The disruption is due to an incident impacting operations, according to updates from Renfe and reports by Europa Press. The limited frequency affects commuters relying on this route, particularly those travelling to and from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) campus. Although the R7 had partially resumed operations between Montcada Bifurcació and UAB in recent weeks after months of engineering works, service remains fragile.
Background: Ongoing Works and Past Disruptions
The R7 line was previously suspended between 2 November 2025 and 15 May 2026 due to track remodelling and the installation of a new traffic management system at Montcada i Reixac by Adif, Spain’s rail infrastructure manager. During that period, an alternative bus service operated between Cerdanyola stations, accessible via the R4 line, and the UAB campus, as confirmed by the university’s official communications. Further complications have affected the wider Rodalies network. A false ceiling collapse at Fabra i Puig station on 23 September left three people injured and led to the temporary closure of the station, disrupting R3 and R7 services. Additionally, technical failures in Adif’s control centre at Estació de França caused multiple service suspensions earlier in the month.
