On 28th October, Mossos d'Esquadra regional police dismantled a large marijuana plantation in a house in Gavà, located directly opposite a primary and nursery school, according to Metropoliabierta report.
During a search, officers seized 656 cannabis plants in advanced growth stages. The upper floor of the property was entirely dedicated to the operation, while the suspects and their two young children lived on the ground floor. One child is just one month old.
A 24-year-old man was arrested and a 22-year-old woman was placed under investigation. Both face charges of endangering public health and defrauding electricity, after police detected an illegal power connection estimated to have caused over €74,000 in losses.
The investigation began following complaints from local residents about suspicious activity at the property. The operation culminated in the search and arrest on 28th October.
Residents urged to report unusual activity
Local authorities remind residents to report signs of illegal cultivation, such as strong odours, excessive heat, or frequent visitor traffic, to Mossos d'Esquadra via 112 or local police channels.
