Victim Pronounced Dead After Midnight Attack
The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's regional police, are investigating the violent death of a man following a group attack in the Nou Barris district of Barcelona. The incident occurred around 2:00 AM on Monday, 12 October 2026, on Carrer Romaní, when officers responded to reports of a man being assaulted by a group. Upon arrival, police found the victim with stab wounds and began resuscitation efforts. Four ambulances from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) attended the scene and attempted to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway Into Possible Gang-Related Attack
Police sources told EL PERIÓDICO that the man was wounded by a bladed weapon and suggested a possible settling of scores as the motive. The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of Barcelona has taken charge of the case.
The proceedings are currently under judicial secrecy.
This case marks at least the fifth stabbing in Barcelona within a 12-hour period, according to reports from ElCaso.cat, with previous incidents reported in Sant Martí, Nou Barris and Horta-Guinardó over the weekend. However, police have not confirmed whether the attacks are linked.
Residents in Nou Barris are urged to report any information to the Mossos d'Esquadra via their online reporting portal at mossos.gencat.cat or by visiting the nearest police station.
