Arrests Made in Sant Adrià Assault Case

The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested six individuals in connection with the serious assault on Nicola Maggiotto, a 21-year-old Italian national, outside the Sea Sea Club in Sant Adrià de Besòs on 12 August 2026. The attack left Maggiotto with severe injuries requiring admission to Hospital del Mar and weeks in an induced coma. The suspects include four 18-year-olds with no prior criminal records and two minors, one of whom has a previous record. According to ElCaso.com, the Investigation Unit of the Badalona police station led the two-month inquiry that culminated in the arrests.


Timeline of Arrests

The four adult suspects were arrested in Badalona on Wednesday, 30 September. The two minors were taken into custody on Wednesday, 7 October, in Sant Boi de Llobregat, approximately 25 kilometres from Badalona. The Mossos have not disclosed the nationalities of any of the six individuals. All six are under investigation for alleged involvement in a crime of injury. The arrests mark a significant development in the case, which drew public attention due to the severity of the attack and its location near the Parc del Fòrum.

Victim’s Condition and Background

Nicola Maggiotto had travelled to Barcelona with his rugby team from Asolo, his hometown in Italy. On the night of the attack, the group visited the Sea Sea Club. Maggiotto and a friend briefly separated from the group and began speaking with another group of young people outside the venue. According to the investigation, the interaction started amicably but turned violent when the group learned the two men were Italian. Maggiotto was struck forcefully on the back of the head, rendering him unconscious. His friend sustained less serious injuries, including damage to his cheekbone. Maggiotto was transported by ambulance to Hospital del Mar’s Intensive Care Unit. He remained in an induced coma for several weeks but is now reported to be out of danger.
