Arrests Made After Violent Robbery
Agents of Citizen Security and the Ciutat Vella Investigation Unit arrested two men, aged 22 and 23, on 30 September, as alleged perpetrators of a robbery with violence and intimidation, and minor injuries. The incident occurred around 17:00 on 30 September when Mossos d'Esquadra officers patrolling the Ciutat Vella district responded to an alert from the Territorial Coordination Room about a violent theft on Carrer de Sant Pere Més Alt. According to multiple witnesses, a woman had her luxury watch snatched from her wrist. The high-end timepiece is valued at €66,000. The victim sustained minor injuries during the assault.
Coordinated Theft and Immediate Response
The suspects allegedly acted in coordination. One man committed the snatch, while the other waited nearby. After the theft, the second suspect fled on foot with the watch and took refuge in a premises on Carrer dels Metges. Witnesses followed him and saw him lower the shutter quickly to avoid detection. Officers from the Regional Motorcyclist Group arrived at the scene and, receiving no response to calls to exit, entered the premises with support from the Mobile Brigade (BRIMO). One suspect was identified at the scene by witnesses. The other suspect, who had remained at the crime scene, was detained by bystanders before police arrived.
Search Yields Stolen Goods and Forged Documents
During the initial search, the €66,000 watch was not recovered. However, the premises was known to police as a location used to hide stolen items, prompting investigators to request a second judicial search. On 1 October, a follow-up judicial entry was carried out. While the stolen watch remained missing, investigators found two additional watches and forged documents inside the premises.
The two detainees, who have previous records for similar offences, were brought before judicial authorities on 2 October.
The Mossos d'Esquadra continue to investigate the case and the origin of the additional items found. The victims and residents of Ciutat Vella are reminded to remain vigilant, especially in crowded areas popular with tourists.
