Performance Moved for Safety and Access Reasons

The Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona has rescheduled its evening performance of I Capuleti e i Montecchi from Wednesday 11th November 2026 to Thursday 12th November due to a general strike planned for that day. The decision was made "for preventive safety reasons and in anticipation of potential disruptions to mobility and access", the theatre said in a statement published on Monday 26th October. The Liceu, located in central Barcelona, warned that the strike could severely affect public transport and cause traffic disruptions, making it difficult for audiences, artists, staff and other professionals to reach or leave the venue safely.

Tickets Valid for New Date

All tickets purchased for the 11th November performance will remain valid for the rescheduled date on the 12th. The change affects the evening show, which is part of a run of performances of Vincenzo Bellini’s bel canto opera running from 30th October to 11th November, with the final performance now shifted to the 12th. The production, directed by Allex Aguilera and conducted by Riccardo Frizza, features leading bel canto singers Lisette Oropesa and Raffaella Lupinacci in the lead roles. It was originally set to close on the 11th, a date that also coincided with a planned live audio description service for accessibility.

School Show Cancelled, Groups Rebooked

The school matinee of Trencanous-jazz, scheduled for the morning of 11th November, has been cancelled outright. In coordination with affected schools, student groups have been relocated to other available dates for the show, which is a jazz-based educational performance involving students from the Conservatori Liceu. Further details about rescheduled performances and ticketing are available on the Liceu's official event page.
