Mossos d'Esquadra and Policía Nacional arrested a member of an itinerant criminal group in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat on 10 June. Authorities attribute at least 24 robberies and thefts to the individual, targeting commercial establishments across Catalonia, Zaragoza, and the Levante region.
L'Hospitalet Arrest Targets Robbery Gang
The arrested individual is now provisionally imprisoned. Police identified the two remaining members of the three-person group. Mossos d'Esquadra considers the criminal organisation disbanded, however, the investigation remains open. The group operated in a coordinated manner. They would watch commercial establishments to find cash in registers. Then they would steal the takings, sometimes forcing or removing security boxes. In other cases, one member distracted staff while another stole money undetected.
Coordinated Theft Tactics
The arrest followed an investigation into two robberies on 2 May in Zaragoza. After these incidents, the group immediately left the city. This action aimed to make their location more difficult. The Zaragoza Provincial Judicial Police Brigade's Itinerant Crime Group and Mossos d'Esquadra investigated the crimes. They established a surveillance operation, leading to the arrest of one alleged perpetrator. During searches, police seized various tools. Officers believe these tools were used for the robberies. The group showed intense activity over recent months, according to Mossos d'Esquadra.
Multi-Regional Investigation
L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, a city bordering Barcelona, is home to over 260,000 residents. Such crimes directly affect local businesses and public safety in the metropolitan area. Police presented the arrested individual to the L'Hospitalet de Llobregat duty investigating court. The court ordered his provisional imprisonment. The broader investigation into the itinerant criminal group's activities continues.
